The fourth is such an interesting time for Americans. It’s the one day we put aside our numerous complaints about government, social issues, etc. and celebrate our country through chomping down hot dogs, guzzling back beer and crowding into small spots to see firework spectaculars.
But through the ongoing “U.S.A.” chants, it’s easy to see the diversity in the crowds that come out for the holiday. And as everyone looks up into the sky while patriotic music blasts, I wonder what the country means to them, what it has done for them and what it has deprived them of.
I came across this photo album in the New Yorker of American flag inspired shots. Give it a look — each one says something different about our country.
